Jimmie Plus Rolex Equals Bad Luck

Jimmie Johnson and the Rolex 24 just don't get along.

Johnson took a nasty hit today during practice for this weekend's 24 hours at Daytona. He was treated and released from the infield care center. And reports say he's uninjured, except for some bruising and soreness.

The car didn't make out so well - it was totalled.

It was just last year at the Rolex 24 that Johnson suffered another bit of bad luck. He sliced his finger open with a knife - while trying to poke a hole in his firesuit, no less. He ended up with stitches to show for it.

However, just like last year, the indomitable Johnson isn't gonna let a little mishap keep him from racing in the big event.

His run in this weekend's Rolex 24 will cap what's turned out to be one heckuva week for the reigning NASCAR Cup champ. The HBO special "Jimmie Johnson 24/7 - The Road To Daytona" premiered Tuesday to much acclaim by the NASCAR faithful.

If You Can't Get Enough Jimmie ...

If you didn't get of enough Jimmie Johnson during Champion's Week or every single race of The Chase for that matter, then you're in luck. HBO is bringing a boatload of Jimmie to your cable TV this winter.

HBO Sports' "24/7" reality franchise will debut its first non-boxing series with "24/7 Jimmie Johnson: Race to Daytona," an all-access series chronicling Jimmie and the No. 48 team as they prepare for the Daytona 500.

Debuting Tuesday, Jan. 26th at 10 p.m. ET, this four-week series spotlights the reigning four-time NASCAR Sprint Cup champion and gives viewers exclusive behind-the-scenes access, along with in-depth interviews with Jimmie, crew chief Chad Knaus, Rick Hendrick and the No. 48 Hendrick Motorsports team.

Let me speak frankly, this is one chick who wouldn't mind spending 24 hours with Jimmie Johnson. He could clean my pool, change a light bulb or just sit there and look pretty. But alas, the likelihood of that happening is less than me winning the Nobel Peace Prize. Guess I'll be tuning in come January for my Jimmie fix.
