Tale of Two Paint Schemes

No, you're not seeing double. Teammates Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson will be driving very similar paint schemes for tomorrow's Kobalt Tools 500.

During final Cup practice this afternoon, it wasn't always easy to tell who was who. Especially for the fans at the track. The cars power by in a blur when you're at the race and sometimes it's all you can do to figure out a sponsor logo. If the car you're pulling for isn't distinctly different from the pack, finding your driver can be a bit tough.

Even the Speed TV broadcast group said calling and watching tomorrow's race could be a challenge. They also speculated that the spotters may have a tricky time when the green flag drops.

Let's hope not. But I'm just left wondering why the powers-that-be at Hendrick Motorsports decided that Gordon's car should have such a similar look to the #48. If anyone out there knows, feel free to enlighten me.

  1. Maybe Jimmie Johnson 's looks like Jeff Gordon's. JJ wants to be just like Super G you know.
